If You Love Dogs, You’re in the Right Place
A simple guide to getting the most out of this site.
Settle in, Friend
This is a world for dog‑loving humans who like to read — a place where stories, real‑life dog wisdom, and lived experience come together. It’s a tribute to all dogs, but mostly the Labrador Retriever.
This page is your map — a guide to help you find what you’re looking for, whether that’s personal essays, real‑life dog guidance, or support through something as overwhelming as Myasthenia Gravis.
Wherever you begin, I’m glad you’re here.
Why I Write
I’m Lynn, and I’m a writer — not a content creator. I’ve wrestled with sharing some of these essays — the personal ones, the messy ones, the heart‑on‑the‑page ones that aren’t always directly about dogs but almost always have a black Lab at my side. But two of my favorite musical artists say they share their stories so other people can understand their own, and that shifted everything for me.
The same is true for my educational articles and Quill’s Myasthenia Gravis journey. I’m not a vet or a trainer; I’m a translator, a mentor, a concierge of information — someone who takes lived experience, research, observation, and the overwhelming parts of dog care and turns them into something real people can actually use.
My mission is to write interesting, educational content that celebrates dogs and the miracle that they are, but that also understands that life with a dog is often like this attempted selfie with Quill; imperfect and a little askew, but full of love.
Whether it’s an essay, a guide, or a post about MG, my hope is the same: that something in my story helps you feel less alone, more prepared, or a little more confident as you navigate your own life with dogs.
And like all good dog stories, this world begins with the dogs who made it possible.
Meet the Dogs
I have been blessed with 8 Labrador Retrievers, a German Shorthaired Pointer, and a Basset Hound during the last 50 years. In addition to my own dogs, I’ve loved my family members’ dogs, my friends’ dogs, dogs I’ve never met, and the dogs these dogs will someday send when the time is right.

What You Can Do Here

Thank you for being here!
I’m glad you’re here. Quill is too — he greets every new visitor with a toy in his mouth because he’s convinced everyone is already his friend.
If you find my writing helpful and want to support the work behind it, you can always “buy me a coffee.” It helps keep this site ad‑free and lets me spend more time creating the kind of stories and dog wisdom you come here for. And let’s be honest — most of my money goes to Quill anyway.
